Welcome to Oklahoma's EDGE Web Site
Oklahoma’s EDGE (Economic Development Generating Excellence) was developed in late 2003 to provide a blueprint for our state’s future. Since that time, more than 100 initiatives have been undertaken to implement the EDGE action plan. Clearly, EDGE continues to serve as an effective blueprint for Oklahoma's economic growth.
A cooperative spirit has been the hallmark of the EDGE process from the beginning. Gov. Brad Henry launched the initiative in cooperation with the Oklahoma Department of Commerce and the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education. A governor-appointed Steering Committee and 23 teams of experts from both the public and private sector provided leadership and strategic recommendations for directing Oklahoma’s future. Regional forums were held at 29 locations across the state. Nearly 2,400 business, education and community leaders met to discuss the initial proposals. The information gathered during the forums was used to determine the primary focus of the EDGE action plan. Throughout the EDGE project, approximately 15,000 Oklahomans have participated in the process that has led to these recommendations.
Please take a moment to review the progress of EDGE in a report released in January 2006. Feel free to provide any additional advice or suggestions. You can contact us by clicking on the links on the left of the screen.
