To qualify for the Academic Scholars Program, the applicant must meet
the criteria outlined below.
- Oklahoma students can automatically
qualify for the program by achieving designation as a National Merit
Scholar, National Merit Finalist or United States Presidential Scholar
or by scoring at or above the 99.5 percentile on the ACT or SAT. For fall 2008, a sum of the ACT skill area scores totaling 133 or a critical reading and math score totaling 1560 on the SAT is required.
- Out-of-state students may qualify for the program by achieving designation as a National Merit Scholar, National Merit Finalist or United States Presidential Scholar. However, out-of-state student participation is limited, and achieving such a designation does not automatically qualify students for the program. Out-of-state students wishing to participate in the program should contact their college of choice directly for additional information regarding eligibility.
- Public colleges and universities may also nominate
students attending their institution for the program based on criteria
established by each institution.
Scholars will continue to receive a scholarship each year if they:
- Maintain full-time enrollment (12 hours in the fall
and spring and six hours in the optional summer or January term) each
semester.
- Complete at least 24 semester credit hours each
year.
- Achieve at least a 3.25 cumulative grade point average
each year.
