Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education

Future Educators Association

Future teacher clubs on middle school and high school campuses serve as an integral component of MTRC's plan to recruit students to careers in teaching. FEA creates a bridge between LEAP and ACE programs and offers connections with other student programs operated by the State Regents.

Typically, FEA student chapters are involved in educational activities that provide opportunities to learn more about the teaching profession; projects to assist and recognize teachers; and local competitions in prepared and impromptu speaking, essay writing and preparation of chapter scrapbooks/displays. Many FEA chapters are also involved in peer tutoring programs, career shadowing, field trips and college visitation days.

FEA is coordinated nationally by the professional association in education, Phi Delta Kappa. Visit the national FEA site at www.futureeducators.org.

The Minority Teacher Recruitment Center sponsors a small grant to cover expenses associated with starting and maintaining an FEA club. For more information about sponsoring an FEA program in your school, e-mail gthompson@osrhe.edu.
